Quilting 101: The First Stitch

ID : 79882
« back to classes page
This class has been designed for the absolute beginning quilter. I will guide you through all the steps of piecing a quilt by machine - fabric selection, rotary cutting, measuring, and piecing with the 1/4" seam. The text is required at the first class. You make the 62" x 68" quilt top featured in the text. Don't need a quilt? The block can easily be used as a table runner and four placemats. The techniques you learn in this class are those used in 90% of all pieced quilting whether it is traditional or modern. Time is set aside in each class to sew. In order to complete the quilt top, you will also need to sew a few hours duing the week. You will be taught at a pace that is comfortable for you. You are sewing in class. Please do not purchase any supplies before the first class meeting; except for the book which is Make Your First Quilt with M'liss Rae Hawley: Beginners Step by Step Guide. Sample quilt, text, and supply list are available at the Quilt Works. You can also e-mail me at CarolBell99@msn.com with any questions, picture of the quilt, and supply list; please put "Quilting 101" in the subject line.
