The Book Arts encompass the worlds of bookbinding, artists' books, fine and design binding and sculptural books. In this introductory class you will learn how to construct eight basic book structures that are 1) folded and glued, 2) sewn, and 3) non-traditional. Learn the basic techniques and discover which are best for expressing yourself artistically in a book format. Instructor will demo the techniques and students will make each structure themselves. Designed for people with no experience in book construction. Students need to bring to class: bonefolder, scissors, glue brush, Xacto knife, steel ruler, awl, and cutting mat. A materials fee of $36, payable to the instructor at the first class, includes text paper and decorative paper, book board, needle, waxed linen thread, beeswax and glue.
