Rolling Stone called Don and Phil Everly “the most important vocal duo in rock”. Their Kentucky-influenced brand of rock and roll and close vocal harmonies influenced everyone from the Beatles and the Byrds, to Simon & Garfunkel and Emmylou Harris. Not only did the Everlys pioneer their tight two-part vocal harmony that has now become a hallmark of rock music, but they introduced an alternative guitar tuning, as well as Appalachian music and early rockabilly, into mainstream rock music. The brothers progressed from an early songwriting contract with Roy Acuff Music to international stardom as popular entertainers with hits such as “Bye, Bye Love”, “Wake Up, Little Susie”, and “All I Have to Do Is Dream”.
