The beautiful iconic dance wrapped in mystery and echoes of the past. Many Hispanic villages and Indian pueblos dance the Matachines at certain ritualistic times.  Each community has its own version and interpretation of what it means.  How old is this ritual?  What does it mean?  Does it tell of the struggle between the Christians and Moors in medieval Spain or the triumph of Christianity in 16th century Mexico or both?
