Considered by many scholars as one of the top presidents in United States history, Theodore Roosevelt remains a controversial figure almost one hundred years after his death. He has been called a “conservative reformer” and a “radical progressive.”  Admired and criticized by the left and the right, the class will look at the domestic and foreign policies of a man who helped shaped the modern presidency. He has an honored spot on Mount Rushmore; however, one critic labeled him a “racist, imperialist, power-hungry megalomaniac.” How should Roosevelt be remembered?
