As many as 20% of World Wide Web users experience some form of disability. This means that they might not be able to use your site to its best potential. Learn to construct attractive, standards-based websites that are usable by people of all ability levels, with and without assistive technologies such as screen readers and video captioning software. We'll discuss designing for four major obstacles to usability (visual, audio, mobility, and cognitive), and learn how to build websites according to Federal and international standards for accessibility, validating our designs using industry-standard tools. Also included is a discussion of assistive technologies such as screen readers and video-captioning software. Prerequisite: 58101 or 58111.
