The Columbian Exposition opened on May 1, 1893. During the next six months, over 26 million people would attend the fair. This fair was important to Japan and the United States because both nations had a strong message which they wished to convey to their own people and to the world. After taking a brief tour of the fairgrounds, the class will examine the relationship between the two countries in 1893, their message and the the evolution of their relationship that eventually led to Pearl Harbor.
