Poetic Forms of the World: From Historic to Contemporary

ID : 82142
« back to classes page
A tour of poetry in various forms, ranging from historical to contemporary. We'll explore older forms from all around the world (such as the pantoum from 15th C. Malaysia and the 12th C. Provençal sestina), as well as more modern ones like the list poem and free verse. Students will read poems and experiment with writing their own. Through this combination of reading and writing, we will discover how the unique elements of each form (even those from centuries ago) spark creativity and offer us new, unexpected ways to express ourselves.
