ID : 82147
« back to classes page
In this historical performance lecture, we will take a trip down memory lane. We will learn about the origins of the American, Mexican and (Negro) National Anthems. We will deconstruct the context and culture behind anthems and why they are such important symbols in international culture. Then, we will collectively craft an anthem, as a group, as we unearth the beginnings of our own personal anthem (better known as “theme music”). Participants should come prepared with the lyrics to their favorite song.
