« back to classes page
It has been said that the American Civil War was the last of the ancient wars, and the beginning of the modern ones. With increased industrialization, the warring factions found new ways to try and kill one another. This discussion will cover some newly devised weapons which were considered ungentlemanly, and thus termed “infernal weapons”. Among the new weapons discussed will be: machine guns, submarines, torpedo boats, ironclad ships, hand grenades, land and naval mines, proposed chemical and biological entities and many others.
