« back to classes page

The UNM Children’s Chorus, a division of the UNM Music Prep School, is a non-auditioned chorus for any child who wishes to sing. Singers must be willing to work as a team, commit to weekly rehearsals and to pursue the development of musicianship through singing. The choirs perform in at least two concerts per year for the community. Note: Each NEW singer will purchase a $12 polo shirt from the UNM Music Prep School for the concert uniform.

Farolito Singers (K-1st grades) - This choir centers on early choral experiences through the performance of unison and simple part songs, movement, vocal exploration, singing games and songs designed to help each child discover their own voice in musically playful ways.

Teacher: Katie Dukes is a lyric soprano and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in vocal performance. Ms. Dukes Walker has taught elementary music in a Montessori school, is founder and executive director of Studio Forza, and is president and performing artist of Chamber Music Campania.
