« back to classes page
One hundred and thirty-two years ago, the people of France gave the Statue of Liberty to the people of the United States in recognition of the friendship established between the two countries during the American Revolution. Over the years since, the Statue has grown to represent freedom and democracy as well as symbolize this international friendship. This class will follow the obstacles encountered during the statue’s conception, construction and final installation in America, plus look at the significant events in New York harbor the statue has been witness to since.
