Visual poetry is a broad hybrid genre, and can be considered a development of concrete poetry, but with elements or characteristics of intermedia. In this class, we will explore the possibilities of combining visual elements and non-representational language with your poems. We will discuss how the image interacts with the content of poetry. If you are willing to use your imagination and experiment, then this class is for you. We will rely on prompts and in-class writing exercises for inspiration. Participants will bring in a visual poem each week which will be shared with the class.
