« back to classes page
Mesoamerica is a region and cultural area in the Americas, extending approximately from central Mexico to Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and northern Costa Rica, within which a number of pre-Columbian societies flourished before the Spanish colonization of the Americas in the 15th and 16th centuries. We will explore the connection between certain New Mexican families and the Mexihcahs, the Tlaxcallans, and the Chichimecas. A short film will be shown that traces the history of these people. We will also discuss which families show the markers that are most identified with these ancient civilizations.
