« back to classes page

Conspiracy theories concerning the hidden influence of secret societies and occult orders in society and politics, but what sort of political goals do occult groups pursue, and what do they actually believe?  Many such groups hold worldviews embracing conflict and even spiritual or magical warfare between opposed powers and principles, often called “dualist.”  Of course, so do many religious people, political parties, (and so forth).  This lecture will unpack major occult groups, the histories of their beliefs, and the background to their interests in political involvement and socio-cultural change, ranging from the familiar (like the Illuminati) to the obscure (Traditional Satanists).
