Referring to E.M. Forster’s notion of musical analogies in fiction this class will explore spatial and temporal form in narrative. Such notions are great aids in understanding the architectonics of poetic as well as prosaic prose. Cormac McCarthy and Herman Melville will help guide us in our inquiry.
