« back to classes page
Starting in 16thcentury Italy, we’ll meet the famed painter of nobility, Sofonisba Anguissola. Moving on to 19thcentury France, painter Suzanne Valadon will be discussed. Back in the USA, we’ll explore the works of 20thcentury portraitist Alice Neel and printmaker Gene Kloss. From Mexico, we’ll encounter the legendary Frida Kahlo. There’s lots of reasons for her fame. Returning to contemporary America, photographer Annie Liebovitz will round out our Sampler session, Part One. It’s a diverse group with surprising similarities.
