Part Three will begin in 18th century Switzerland with child-prodigy painter, Angelica Kauffman. Back in the USA, we’ll study 20thcentury photographer Margaret Bourke-White, famed for her love of mighty industry and her globe-trotting LIFE magazine photo essays. We’ll encounter Diane Arbus, another American photographer with a very different take on the medium. Painter Agnes Martin was spiritual and reclusive, a Canadian woman who eventually migrated to Taos, New Mexico. Painter Helen Hardin was born here in Albuquerque, the second generation in a family of renowned women artists. Finally, we’ll discuss multi-media artist Judy Chicago, a contemporary mid-westerner who adopted New Mexico as her home.
