The Bermuda Triangle

« back to classes page
The Bermuda Triangle is a loosely defined region in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. The earliest suggestion of strange disappearances in the area was in The Miami Herald in 1950. Two years later, Fate magazine published an article by George X. Sand documenting the loss of several planes and ships, including that of Flight 19, a group of five US Navy Grumman TBM Avenger torpedo bombers on a training mission. Sand's article was the first to lay out the now-familiar triangular area where the losses took place. The area of the triangle is one of the heaviest travelled flight paths and shipping lanes in the world, and yet popular culture has credited the various disappearances to the paranormal or activity by extraterrestrial beings. Come explore the facts behind the “Devil’s Triangle.”
