Reframing Awkward Holiday Conversations

ID : 85069
« back to classes page
As we enter a holiday season, there’s both lots to celebrate and maybe some conversations you’d rather avoid. Perhaps, you’d rather steer clear of a difficult conversation with a friend or relative on the climate, race, immigration, or some other topic. How can you nurture the relationship AND speak up without burning any bridges? We’ll learn and practice ways to discuss issues more openly with those we love who may differ from us. We’ll practice conversation tools including staying calm, listening, asking questions, and sharing how we care about the other person as well as the issue. Optional Reading: Breaking Through Gridlock: The Power of Conversation in a Polarized World
