Psychology of Addiction

ID : 85070
« back to classes page
This class will focus on the reasons some people are more susceptible to developing addictive behaviors than others. Freud's theory of personality, along with the definition of the brain's pleasure center, will be explored. We will come to understand that the greater one's sense of a purposeful life meaning is accessible and in focus to someone, the less likely one is tempted to adopt an addictive lifestyle. Addiction is an attempt to fill a void because of the inherent emptiness of life without personal meaning.
