« back to classes page
Founded by the Russian empress Catherine the Great in 1764 as a “hermit’s retreat,” the Hermitage became one of the largest museums in the world. It comprises over three million items, including the largest collection of paintings in the world. Dr. Oborotova will take you on a virtual tour of the Hermitage, talk about the museum’s history and show you some of its treasures – Leonardo’s and da Vinci’s Madonnas, Rembrandt's portraits and Impressionists’ landscapes.
