Long off-limits to the public, this unique site has been acquired and is being developed by Albuquerque Open Space. New trails lead from the parking area to the buildings now being refurbished. The main feature, however, is the spring, one of the two largest in the Sandias, which waters a surprisingly lush environment and has created interesting travertine formations. The hiking is short and relatively easy, and the trees ensure plenty or shade. A good place to become acquainted with plants, birds, and wildlife. Best of all, this relatively unknown site now belongs to us.
