Topics covered include the development of visual communications from the earliest pictographs to the work of contemporary designers and illustrators. Students complete a design project by the last class. Note: Equipment and materials cost about $25; a materials list will be available the first day of class. Suggested text: A History of Graphic Design by Philip B. Meggs. Prerequisite: None. Suggested: 55101.
