The Book Arts encompass the worlds of bookbinding, artists' books, fine and design binding and sculptural books. In this introductory class you will learn how to construct 6-8 basic book structures that are 1) folded and glued, 2) sewn, and 3) non-traditional. Learn the basic techniques and discover which are best for expressing yourself artistically in a book format. Instructor will demo the techniques and students will make each structure themselves. Designed for people with no experience in book structures. Students need to bring to class: bonefolder, scissors, glue brush, Xacto knife, steel ruler, awl, and cutting mat. A materials fee of $36, payable to the instructor at the first class, includes text paper and decorative paper, book board, needle, waxed linen thread, beeswax and glue for all 3 sessions.
