« back to classes page
This course continues the study of the traditional Yang Style Long Form, building on the knowledge and skills gained in the Beginner's class. Students receive detailed instruction and practice before progressing to study of the second section of the form. There will also be special focus on the walking movements that include Repulse Monkey (backward stepping), Wave Hands Like clouds (sideways stepping) and an introduction to kicking techniques. Emphasis will be placed on attaining the quality of groundedness, through improvement of balance skills and further deepening one's state of relaxation. Students will learn and experiment with new methods aimed at removing stress-related blockages, thus enhancing the health benefits of their T'ai Chi practice. Virginia Huettig began her study of T'ai Chi in 1996. She has taught T'ai Chi Ch'uan at UNM since 2002.
